Austin came on board as a peer veterans specialist in January 2018, heading our new Disabled Veteran’s Services Program. Austin collaborates with the Division of Veteran Services and other local and regional agencies to assist veterans in accessing necessary and comprehensive benefits, supports and services.

Austin is a veteran of the United States Air Force and completed tours in Afghanistan and Iraq with the 355th Security Forces Squadron. After leaving service, Austin graduated from SUNY Purchase with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Austin is a mentor in the Joseph P. Dwyer program, a United Way Certified Community Leader and is certified in mental health first aid. He also participated in NAMI Homefront training, which helps families better understand their service member/veteran’s experiences related to trauma, combat stress, civilian life transition and other mental health conditions.

When not at the office Austin enjoys going to the gym, sports and spending time with his girlfriend and their three dogs. He also has the best haircut in the office.
