Veterans ILS Project

VETERANS INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS PROJECT (ILSP)

Veterans with service-connected disabilities are oftentimes limited in their ability to perform activities of daily living (like bathing, dressing, accessing the community, and interacting with others), which may also compromise their employment options.

To help veterans with service-connected disabilities prepare for, find, and keep jobs, TRI’s Veterans Independent Living Skills Project (ILSP) will provide one-on-one independent living skills trainings and workshops on employment and housing accommodations designed to assist veterans with service-connected disabilities in finding and maintaining employment and provide them with the skills to live independently.

The ILSP will offer:

  • Evaluation and counseling to identify the needs and goals of veterans
  • Referral to support resources, including applying for benefits from the Veteran Service Office and Social Security Disability Insurance
  • Employment readiness services: job-seeking skills, resume development, and other work readiness assistance
  • Evaluation for eligibility for home adaptation grants to improve accessibility features in the home, such as widening doorways or adding ramps, to live more independently.

Independent Living skills training to assist veterans unable to work due to the severity of their disabilities to live more independently with dignity.
