Deaf and Hard of Hearing Advocate

“I have learned more in 45 minutes with Jeanine than I did from my audiologist and doctors over the years.”

– Quote from a consumer new to hearing loss

TRI’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing advocate is knowledgeable in Sign Language and Deaf and Hard of Hearing cultures.

We collaborate with other advocates to educate people regarding disability benefits, housing, special education and independent living skills. We also provide American Sign Language (ASL) classes for families with children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in order to promote better communication in the home.

We advocate in the community to ensure the public is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We educate businesses, etc. about the need to provide ASL Interpreters, Assisted Listening Devices (ALD), Communication Assisted Real Time (CART) or use of other appropriate auxiliary aids as needed and requested.
