Applying for Social Security Disability Programs

In-Person Workshop Dates:October. 29th at 10:30 AM

Virtual Workshop Dates: –  October. CANCELED

You must attend a workshop before scheduling a one-on-one appointment with our Benefits Counselor. These workshops provide a basic understanding of the application process and will equip you with the knowledge and essential skills to be confident and apply independently.

All community members are welcome to attend the virtual workshop.

When attending in-person workshops, we still encourage wearing proper facemasks, but it’s not required. If you are feeling sick, please do not attend and reschedule with the benefits counselor.

Accommodations (ASL, presentation shared in large print, etc.) Please request any accommodations at least two weeks in advance so we can prepare the materials for you.

To register for our in-person workshop, please complete a HIPAA registration form. CLICK HERE to RSVP. You may call the front desk if you need assistance. There will be no walk-ins. In case of workshop cancellation, we will call or email you.

When you call, please tell us if you are attending as a…

  • Applying for yourself, and let us know if you require accommodations—example: Large print, American Sign Language interpreter.
  • Friend or family member, and if you are attending with the individual.
  • Human Services Professional, and if your client is attending with you.

If there are any changes to the workshop, including cancellation, we will contact you via email or phone. If you can’t attend a workshop you’ve signed up for, please let us know in advance by calling the front desk at 845-452-3913.

Social Security Work Incentives

Increase your benefits! Avoid Overpayments! Plan – be prepared. Consider Social Security’s Ticket-To-Work program.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. We encourage everyone to register separately. Please do not share your confirmation email.

These workshops are intended for the beneficiary (SSI/SSDI/DAC recipient) as well as their Representative Payee. Human Services Professionals are welcome to attend; however, we encourage the beneficiary to be present.

What is the Special Education Parent Empowerment Program?
Parent Empowerment Program (PEP) is a program at Taconic Resources for Independence, Inc. (TRI). PEP provides training and information to families of children and young adults with disabilities, between the ages of 3 and 22. TRI’s Special Education program offers specialized and collaborative advocacy training, parent-to-parent networking and support, information, and referral services.

In this FREE webinar, you will hear an overview of ACCES-VR, including the description of PreEmployment Transition Services, available for students with disabilities ages 14 and older.

Adult Career and Continuing Education ServicesVocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) starts with the presumption that all individuals with disabilities should have opportunities to work in
jobs within their communities and can benefit from vocational rehabilitation services.

The workshop will be presented by LaQuesha Matthews-Reed, Integrated Employment Specialist Business Relation Team Member ACCES VR, and David Lee, Senior Rehabilitation Vocational Counselor Transition and Youth Service ACCES VR.
