SSI and SSDI info sessions

We have FREE monthly in-person and virtual workshops on How to Apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) for individuals between the ages of 18 and 64. For those who are currently receiving SSI and SSDI benefits, we also provide monthly workshops that explain the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) work incentives – SSA’s Ticket-To-Work Program!

These informational workshops are tailored for Dutchess County, NYS residents. However, anyone is welcome to attend. Services are paid for in part by Dutchess County Think Differently.

Current dates and times of the recurring workshops can be found on our Mobile Disability Benefits Counseling subpage: https://taconicresources.org/mobile-disability-benefits-counseling/

The virtual Zoom meetings are not in a Webinar format. Your display name and camera/video (if you choose to turn on) will be visible to other attendees. The virtual meeting set-up is just as if you were attending a workshop in person. We advise that you do not share any confidential information about yourself or of others in group settings. You can schedule a private one-on-one meeting with the benefits counselor after attending the workshop.

How to apply for SSI/SSDI

Attend a workshop before scheduling a one-on-one appointment with our Mobile Benefits Counselor. These workshops provide a basic understanding of the application process and will equip you with the knowledge and essential skills to be confident and apply independently.

All community members who will be assisting their loved ones or clients are welcome to attend the virtual workshop.

We encourage anyone feeling under the weather or recovering from a cold to wear a proper facemask. If you are feeling sick, please do not attend and reschedule with the benefits counselor.

If you are in need of accommodations (ASL, large print, etc.), please request at least two weeks in advance so we can prepare the materials and obtain an American Sign Language interpreter for you.

To register for our in-person workshop, please complete a HIPAA registration form. CLICK HERE to RSVP. You may call the front desk if you need assistance. There will be no walk-ins. In the event of a workshop cancellation, we will contact you by phone or email.

When you call, please tell us if you are attending as a…
